Junior Beta Club
The St. John Middle School Jr. Beta Club promotes and rewards academic achievement. The club is open by invitation to students who have maintained a minimum 3.5 grade point average, and exemplify qualities of honesty, integrity, and leadership. A ceremony is held each year to induct new members. Officers are elected at the beginning of each school year. Dance Team The Junior Eaglettes is the elementary/middle school dance team. Members are selected each by a panel of judges chosen by the principal and sponsor. Students have an opportunity to try out during the month of April. Currently enrolled sixth, seventh and eighth graders who are registered for the next school year before tryouts are eligible for the squad. Eligibility to try out and participate requires a minimum 2.0 grade point average and failure of not more than two subjects in a nine-week period. The administration and sponsor annually reviews the constitution of the St. John Junior Eaglettes. There are other rules and regulations that govern the squad and may be obtained from the school office. Band Band was added to the middle school curriculum in 2000. Band classes are held during enrichment periods. Band members in grades 5-8 perform at athletic events, community events, and other school events. The band year is highlighted by two concerts, one before Christmas and the other in May. 4-H Members participate in various educational and service projects as designed
by the Louisiana Agricultural Extension Service. The wide variety of programs
includes Food and Nutrition, Child Development, Clothing, Small Engines,
Agricultural Growth, and Livestock. This organization is open to students
in all grades. |
