Beta Club National Beta Club membership is based on character, leadership, achievement, scholarship, and service. Students in grades 10 through 12 may be invited to join the Beta Club if they maintain a 3.2 grade point average. As members, they are required to perform 10 service hours. The Beta Club motto is “Let us lead by serving others.” Ninth grade students are eligible through the St. John Middle School Junior Beta Club. Dance Team The Eaglettes is the high school dance team. They perform at athletic events, community events, and enter competitions. Tryouts are in the spring for the following school year. Girls registered for the following year for grades nine through twelve may try out, if they are academically eligible. The Eaglettes have their own constitution, which should be reviewed carefully by parents and students before tryouts. There are a number of expenses required of Eaglettes and their parents as explained in their constitution. Key Club Key Club is a school and community service organization sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. It is open to students in all grades. National Honor Society The National Honor Society is open to students in grades 10 through 12, and membership is by invitation. Members of the National Honor Society are expected to reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of character, leadership, and service. Members must maintain a minimum cumulative scholastic grade point average of 3.75. Mu Alpha Theta Mu Alpha Theta is a mathematical honor society that is dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics among high school students. Peer Ministry Team This service organization is open to all seniors. The team is involved in high school, middle school, and elementary school retreats and other activities. Yearbook The Eagle, St. John’s yearbook, is designed and prepared by both the “Publications” class and the yearbook staff. The staff is made up of volunteers from any grade. Cheerleaders The St. John High School cheerleaders perform at athletic events, community events, and enter competitions. Tryouts are in the spring for the following school year. The wide variety of programs includes Food and Nutrition, Child Development, Clothing, Small Engines, Agricultural Growth, and Livestock. This organization is open to students in all grades. Newspaper The high school newspaper, The Talon, is written and published by high school students. Articles cover a wide variety of topics. Its contents must be in keeping with the philosophy and mission of St. John School. Students in all grades are eligible to participate. Student Council The Student Council acts as a student advisory group to the faculty
and administration. It is also actively involved in certain activities
during the school year. There are four students elected by each grade
