Update to Parents - Sunday, March 15

Dear St. John School Family,
Given Friday's announcement of school closures, we wanted to update you on our plans for the upcoming weeks.  Our goal during this time is simple:  We want your child to continue learning. However, we realize our plan must balance your child's continued education with an understanding of the various circumstances of our families during the closure. 
We are asking all parents to complete the brief online survey at: http://bit.ly/SJTechSurvey (please copy and paste this link) so we can determine the technology needs of our families. We are prepared to loan devices to those families who do not own a computer.   While students will not attend school as they regularly do, learning and instruction will not stop. Our teachers are developing lesson plans and activities to continue the education of our students. We will utilize not only traditional methods of teaching, but also various online resources that allow video instruction and interaction between the teacher and students. 
Students will not have assignments on Monday and Tuesday of this week; no parents or students should come to campus on Monday. Teachers will be working Monday and Tuesday to collaborate and determine the best ways to meet our goal of continued learning.  Parents should make arrangements to pick up lesson materials on Tuesday, March 17th between 1:00pm and 7:00 pm or Wednesday morning between 7:00 am and 12:00 pm.  Details for pick up locations will be sent in the next communication. It will be very important for you to check email frequently as this will be a main source of communication throughout this closure.   
Thanks for your understanding and patience as we all face this unprecedented situation and determine the best way to continue serving the students and families of our school community.  Please continue to pray for everyone affected by COVID-19.
