Our high school counselor works with our students to apply for available and relevant scholarships. Additionally, St. John School prepares students to qualify for TOPS funding. Over 70% of the senior class of 2021 qualified for TOPS funding and the class of 2021 earned over $1.5 million in scholarships.

Recognition for Excellence

  • TOPS Eligibility

    TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) is a program of state scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools that are a part of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.  TOPS funding is contingent upon appropriations by the Louisiana Legislature.


    Standard Eligibility Requirements

    • Minimum TOPS Core Curriculum GPA of 2.50 (GPA computed on TOPS Core Curriculum courses only)
    • Completion of the 19.0 Core Units of the TOPS Core Curriculum
    • Minimum ACT Score (or SAT Equivalent) of 20

    TOPS Awards

    • Opportunity Award (tuition amount)
    • Minimum requirements: 2.5 Core GPA & 20 ACT composite score
    • Performance Award (tuition + $400 per year)
    • Minimum requirements: 3.25 Core GPA & 23 ACT composite score
    • Honors Award (tuition + $800 per year)
    • Minimum requirements: 3.5 Core GPA & 27 ACT composite score
    • Tech Award (tuition for 2 years at a community, vocation, or technical college)  
    • Minimum requirements: 2.5 Core GPA & 17 ACT composite score
